This is crazy

People who have lost it all are going with out electric even longer because of unions. Out of state help came in and was turned away in Seaside NJ a place devastated by sandy. They were not allowed to help since they were from the wrong union. Needless to say I still am anti union and have no intention of  changing that stance anytime soon when things like this still happen.

Poetic Justice?

I think personally it would be great if Templeton properties bought the old high school grounds. The town has spent untold thousands of dollars of our money to avoid Templeton from building near the mayor's neighborhood. Now they could build just a couple miles down the road.

I also think if Templeton properties was to build on the property it would be more likely to hire local companies then an out of town company buying the land.

Why do we still fight in the name of religion?

As an atheist this picture breaks my heart. Does it really matter whose "god" is the right one to believe in? Does your god or anyones help bring back this little boy ?

I am suprised

I was not expecting the commissioners to act in the best interests financially of all of our tax burdens. If they accept an offer on the old school property and pay down the debt thats the best thing for us. Adding more debt to the already huge one for the new high school is not going to do any of us any good.

If an industrial park is needed offer incentives for a commercial enterprise to build it. I do not think while we are in such debt is the time for the county to be a landlord even more so than we already are.

Watauga is in debt deeply with the new High School  Now i read about wanting to spend millions more on buying IPads for every student after we spent million to buy them all laptops. I say take the money and pay down the debt before spending more and more to go deeper in the hole.

Unions are hurting my favorite pastime

I am a football fan I enjoy watching it for my own entertainment. I am not a big union supporter or detractor. I realize they have served a purpose in the past to help end sweat shops and forced labor. But in today's world I find them only to be self serving and hurting the interests of the public. This is in response to Voter ID Laws Republican State Legislatures across the United States are passing or trying to pass to strip voting rights from 2-3% of American citizens because they are poor or very elderly.
Problems with voter ID are something like 10 cases in 10 years total for the entire United States electorate.

I am undecided

 Also giving any break needed to attract more chain restaruants and stores. But yet business that has been here for ever like live music on King Street and in downtown is pressured relentlessly, as to make it impossible to turn a profit. Soon downtown will be all chains and the town owned theater is all there will be for entertainment in Boone

Ready top upgrade or buy new

What does anyone think of Windows 8  and will you be upgrading or buying a new PC with it? I find it stable and decent to use in the desktop mode but not much of an improvement with out touch.
