Phone Books

I have a question for any readers here. Our company is determing the amount to spend on our yellow pages ad.  If an electronic item failed in your home that you wanted repaired. Would you look online first for a repair company or in the phone book ?

Unions are hurting my favorite pastime

I am a football fan I enjoy watching it for my own entertainment. I am not a big union supporter or detractor. I realize they have served a purpose in the past to help end sweat shops and forced labor. But in today's world I find them only to be self serving and hurting the interests of the public. Like the children of Chicago and now the millions of NFL fans watching a inferior product.

Does Watauga really need more debt?

I think this is a bad idea at this time. The new high school has millions of debt already waiting to be paid off. I am in favor of doing what we can to help our students achieve academically, but this I feel can wait till we pay down the school .

Violence by extremeists

I am starting to get concerned at how fast this is spreading. It seems like the film gave the extremists the excuse they were looking for.

A thread for LPOV about voter ID

I'm reposting a reply the extremist folks over on the Watauga Conservative knowing they delete my responses to their misinformation.
This is in response to Voter ID Laws Republican State Legislatures across the United States are passing or trying to pass to strip voting rights from 2-3% of American citizens because they are poor or very elderly.
Problems with voter ID are something like 10 cases in 10 years total for the entire United States electorate.
"Analysis of the resulting comprehensive News21 election fraud database turned up 10 cases of voter impersonation. With 146 million registered voters in the United States during that time, those 10 cases represent one out of about every 15 million prospective voters."

New Guy

The motive to risk voter fraud for one vote is?

The reason for voter repression of tens of thousands of votes is?

This is a clear case of Republicans trying to deprive American citizens of their voting rights! Shame on you and your corrupt political hacks.
This will backfire on the Republican Party! Voter turn out will be huge from those decent Americans who have been pissed off by small minded Republicans like you and Blogger.

Deborah Greene vs. "Newguy"

I would like to be the first to invite you debate "Newguy" in person at the site of your choosing. I will happily moderate this public debate. I even will buy the first round of adult or non adult beverages.

I personally have seen "Newguy" lie on the conservative blog . I think it is time he has to put up or shut up and apologize.  Anyone who reads this post has my absolute permission to re-post it on any blog they like to .

The worst of politics

Today is 150 years since the most bloody day ever caused by american politics.

Poor example

These educators are putting their wants in front of the needs of the children they are paid to educate. I feel it is a poor example to set. When the strike is settled will the teachers tell the students the reason you were not taught ,was because our desire for more money was more important then your education. But we will make it up by having you go to school later in to the summer instead.

wataugarepubs.blogspot.com is back to censoring

I have been banned from the site for calling out the admin Newguy for insulting me from the safety of his keyboard. He claims it was to avoid me being a "troll" on that site . On that site anyone who does not agree with him and the main posters is a troll. Here are the posts that cost me the ability to post there.

NewGuy said...
When one has no idea of the issues, no concept as to what is at atake, no ability to discern the qualifications of the candidates and no appreciation for the direxction each candidate might want to take the country, then it's probably as good an idea as you are capable of it find someone you don't like and then vote opposite their choices.

Of course, you problem here is that Guy Faulkes is NOT voting for Romney while Sarkazien is. It will be hard to vote contrary to BOTH their posisions.

I called him on saying these things about me, and asked if he would in person as well as from the safety of an anonymous web site. This was the reply.

NewGuy said...
OPIOP...let me try ONE LAST time to be serious with you. We had some discussions on a previous post ( http://wataugarepubs.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-word-about-trolling.html ) which,I would suggest you maybe review one more time. In the responses on that thread, you asked

"Newguy does this mean if i post on topic even if it is not inline with fox news talking points i will not be censored ? ".

I haven't found that you have been very interested in posting anything "on topic" since then. More likely your posts avoid discussion of any topic contained in the thread and concentrate instead on name calling, insults and obscenities that make me wonder if you are just intentionally trying to see how far you can push.

I have, on one or two occassions on this and other blogs, seen posts from you which would seem to indicate that you are in fact capable of engaging in rational conversation. Why don't you give that a try? Drop the childish behaviour, the name calling, the blustering about "meeting people in a public place" and join the community here.

The choice is yours but, I will remind you, it may be easier to just remove your posts than it is to continue trying to encourage you to engage in civil discussion.

And be assured, I don't intend to delete your posts after a "post by post" review!...If you insist on maintaining "troll status" and continue to troll, I will just begin deleting without regard to the content of an individual post

You do, of course, have the option to post what you want on your own blog and perhaps if there are others of similar minds to yours, they will engage you there.

I wrote a post addressing each of his points also again asking if he would meet with me as well as any other blog members to test my intellect or integrity in person. I was immediately deleted and banned from posting further.

I leave to to any reader here or there that reads here to make a decision on how that blog is run and how they censor.

It’s not the greatest country in the world, professor, that’s my answer.

Fine. [to the liberal panelist] Sharon, the NEA is a loser. Yeah, it accounts for a penny out of our paychecks, but he [gesturing to the conservative panelist] gets to hit you with it anytime he wants. It doesn’t cost money, it costs votes. It costs airtime and column inches. You know why people don’t like liberals? Because they lose. If liberals are so fuckin’ smart, how come they lose so GODDAM ALWAYS!
And [to the conservative panelist] with a straight face, you’re going to tell students that America’s so starspangled awesome that we’re the only ones in the world who have freedom? Canada has freedom, Japan has freedom, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, Belgium has freedom. Two hundred seven sovereign states in the world, like 180 of them have freedom.
And you—sorority girl—yeah—just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there are some things you should know, and one of them is that there is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we’re the greatest country in the world. We’re seventh in literacy, twenty-seventh in math, twenty-second in science, forty-ninth in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, third in median household income, number four in labor force, and number four in exports. We lead the world in only three categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next twenty-six countries combined, twenty-five of whom are allies. None of this is the fault of a 20-year-old college student, but you, nonetheless, are without a doubt, a member of the WORST-period-GENERATION-period-EVER-period, so when you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about?! Yosemite?!!!
[Cell-phone cameras are everywhere— people are tweeting and texting away.]
We sure used to be. We stood up for what was right! We fought for moral reasons, we passed and struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and cultivated the world’s greatest artists and the world’s greatest economy. We reached for the stars, and we acted like men. We aspired to intelligence; we didn’t belittle it; it didn’t make us feel inferior. We didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn’t scare so easy. And we were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men, men who were revered. The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one—America is not the greatest country in the world anymore.

A day to remember

On the 11th anniversary of 9/11 we should all take a second to remember the 3000 plus Americans who died that day.

Good use of taxes

If I am going to be taxed to death then this is how I want to see my money spent.

Is this really nessasary

I think maybe selling the old school property and paying down some of the debt on the new school might be a better start. I am all for giving kids every advantage but the school is hardly a year old and now looking at several million in new debt disturbs me.
